Clover Club History
The Clover Club was born at the eponymous gentlemen's club "Clover Club" in 1880s Philadelphia. This club was a gathering of upper-class men including lawyers, businessmen, and journalists.
A quintessential pre-Prohibition cocktail, it was first recorded in "Recipes for Mixed Drinks" published in 1917.
Forgotten for a while after Prohibition, it regained popularity with the classic cocktail revival of the 2000s. The opening of a bar named "Clover Club" in Brooklyn, New York in 2008 greatly contributed to this cocktail's resurrection.
